    Default Target Shoplifting

Hello I'm an 18 year old who has a near perfect record (only offense was a speeding ticket)

Today i went to Target to try to steal a DVD called Planet Earth. When stealing it i went inside the bathroom where i took off all the tags and things that would make the sensors go off. I also put some sloppy handprints on the dvd while examining it if they would have sensors. When i put it in my jeans, right where the belt is and covered it with my t-shirt i thought i was clean/good. When i left the bathroom i noticed an employee was comming in so i walked a bit faster. That might've set it off taht i might have been shoplifting. When walking out to my car, the security officer stopped me and told me "to drop it or he'll call the cops" when leaving he took notes on my license plate..

Please help me, i do not know what to do
Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Plan on a visit, call or letter from PD asking you to surrender yourself

All you can really do is wait and see what happens. In the meantime, expect that they'll be watching for you at that store.

They attempted to make a shoplfiting stop. If they got his plate he can expect Police to do one of the things I mentioned.

The minute you walked outside with the item, you left with it.

If Target pressed charges and gave your plate to Police. They can come to your home, call you or, write you aletter to surrender yourself. Dropping the item(s) does not remove a shoplifting charge

If you went to the bathroom, no stop should have been made. That is a violation of company policy.

bam I am not argueing policy as you know better than I but if a Target AP or even assocaite saw OP opening packaging or anything of the such would that warrant a stop if not for arrest for at least a recovery? THe failure of complying with request to stop then would it be within policy to take a plate number and submit report to PD?
