Greetings,

The topic says it all, but here is a bit of history for the last two months.

I was in a car accident in NJ on a state Highway. It was a low-speed fender bender. The guy gets out of his car, looks at his and my bumper, gets back in and leaves. As I scramble for a pen and to check his plate, he is gone.

Another driver stops and says that they got his plate and called 911. I again called 911 and met a state trooper. There was no damage to the car, it was my Durango Vs. his Ford Explorer. The officer takes the plate information from me, my plate and the other driver's, says he'll call me. THATS IT!! I begin to get serious spasms in my back and go to the hospital.

The next day, being quite unsatisfied, my boyfriend calls the state police barracks and eventually gets the officer on the phone. When he picks up he asks my boyfriend if he is the other driver. He explains who he is and the officer proceeds to tell him that since there was no damage, he assumed that I did not want a report. Furious at this point, my boyfriend explains that we had to go to the hospital. The officer says he DID find the guy's house and spoke with his father. The other driver was on a suspended license, hence why he fled. Now that he knew something ahd to be done, takes more proper information and says he will call us back.

An hour later he calls, said he got in touch with the other driver, and that he was getting the information and it would be 1-2 weeks for a police report. Two weeks later, my boyfriend calls to find out how things have progressed and learns that, get this, there is NO RECORD of any accident on that date. He tells the person on the phone the officers name, or the one he thought that he talked to, and we then are told to send an SASE to the police to retireve our report.

In that time I have recieved an MRI and have been told I have severe nerve damage in my spine. Not having hte MRI results yet, I receive a call the other day saying they need me at the doctors office ASAP to discuss the results, doesn't sound to promising.

Yesterday I get a call from the state police from the officer we thought was the one who handled this whole thing and he says he was not working that day and promises to look into the situation and call us ASAP. He explains that even if there was no damage AND the guy was found, there should have been some serious tickets issued for leaving the scene and driving while suspended.

He calls us back today and says that there is NO RECORD of ANYTHING about this. Not even a record of an officer being dispatched to that area on the day in question.

WHAT DO I DO!?!?!

I fear I am going to receive some bad news about my back next wednesday and I have nothing to go on. My hospital bills are arriving and could go into collection since the accident was 2 months ago.

What do I do......
