Default Scammed Selling a Used Car, No Insurance Coverage For Theft

    Hello All

Few days back I get sold my car. During that transaction I signed the title off and the buying party did not ask for Bill of Sale and I was not even aware of anything like that. He paid me with a Fake cashiers check which I found out later.

Today I went to the Police station and have filed the complain. And when I called my Insurance company telling them that my car is technically stolen as the deal made was never completed and legally it would be called stolen. They refused and the Insurance guy said that he will need to check with the manager as to if this should be considered stolen or not.

If my insurance says that it cannot be considered stolen and police is not able to find my car ... I am left with nothing. Please Help !!! Guide me what to do ???

    Thanks - Shiv

I suggest getting in touch with the Maryland DMV, to see if they can do anything to prevent transfer of the title.

Police department have already put the VIN number of the car in their National database as flagged, so that it doesn't get transferred.

But if they are not able to find the car? How can I claim? It is a lot of money for me. What can I provide my insurance company to convince them. I also have rental-car thing with them, I do not want that. All I want is worse come to worse ... they should cover atleast the base price even price lower than kbb.
