Hi Aaron, I've wrote you recently and appreciate all of your information. As I said in a previous post in May of 2000 my freshman year in college I took my computer in to get fixed at best buy and through images on my email i was arrested for poss of child pornograhpy, which was a Class A misdemeanor. My lawyer got the charges dismissed with a Pre-Trial diversion. I'm stressed about finding a job now because i'm out of college, and i don't want this to show up on a background check even though the case was dismissed. My roommate ran my record at work (Sherrif's Dept) and said that he couldn't find anything doing the search that he used. He did say that there was another search that he could use but he wasn't allowed. My question is how strenous are these searches that employers will use? Do some just check for felonies, or do they always check for arrests, or do they just check for convicitions? He says that I probably shouldn't worry about it as long as I'm not applying for state jobs and alike. Is there any truth to that? Does having a pre-trial diversion make this charge impossible to expunge or hide? Should I just be satisfied that the case was dismissed and move on or do i have any shot of getting a job without this embarrising b/s charge showing up? Once again thanks.
