    Default Sole And Separate Property

    North Carolina

I am married & the subject account is intended to be in my estate.

A fund I recently set up titled the account as "Mr X, Sole and Separate Property, address". I've never had one so-titled before. Does it matter...should I have it changed?

Default Re: Sole And Separate Property

Sorry, not enough information. Usually the sole and separate property designation is to keep property before marraige from becoming transmuted into marital property in case of a divorce or death. If it is marital property only one half goes into your estate since the other half belongs to your wife.
