Hello,
I was just approved for retraining benefits in CA. After the hearing there was a waiting period for about a month. During this time I applied for social services and finally found a part time job at a Starbucks for less than 15 hours a week. I was then offered a full time job at a very low salary at a supermarket and obviously took that because I needed to eat. In addition, the full time job at the supermarket was rumored to be ending soon because the hired too many people as it was a new store. While I was working there my retraining benefits approval came through. I then resigned and began the training program immediately. There was absolutely no overlap of the job and when the training benefits kicked in. I was also not dishonest in any way on any of the UI claim forms.
Does anyone know if this will come back to bite me in any way once the state realizes I actually worked for a couple of weeks awaiting the verdict and left once I was approved? I honestly didn't believe the retraining money would come through so I took any job I could get. It took me over a year to even find that job so I was shocked to have found something but could not pass it up in case I was denied the retraining benefits.
