I am a 17 year old resident of Michigan. I recently was caught for shopliftting in sears. The item I had was worth $22. Im wondering what might happen and if its possible to keep it off my personal record. Also if I should get an attourney or not. Thank you.

At 17, in Michigan, you are charged as an adult, and you get an adult criminal record. A local lawyer can advise you as to whether your county has a diversion program, or about other sentencing options (such as HYTA) which may allow you to avoid a criminal record.
