    Default Planning To Emancipate

I'm in Manitoba, with my dad and stepmom
my stepmom is verbally abusive because anything that goes wrong, no matter how minor, offsets her in a way that I dont even want to be around her or even know her because she rips on me every chance she gets and it's been tearing my self confidence down to almost nothing, and I'm honestly just sick and tired of it, it's been going on every single time something has happened to upset her, I don't think this household has been peaceful for 3 full days, she's cut me off from food, been verbally abusive, and almost kicked me out, and honestly I'm just sick of it. (my parents divorced when I was about 9 or 10, the custody arrangement was that I lived at my mom's for a week, then my dad's. after about a few years of this, I got tired of having a fight with my stepmom every single time I went over there. So I arranged it so I went to go live with my mom permanently, but happiness there didnt last too long, I lived there for roughly 2 years before we had a massive fight and I had to take refuge at my dads house for a weekend, which he ended up taking me on a trip to manitoba because he was planning to move there, and on that weekend the opportunity arised that I go live with them, it was talked about alot and thaught out, so I went to go live with my dad and my stepmom permanently, promised things would be different, but I'm worse off now than I ever was before.)
I'm planning to emancipate and possibly move in with my girlfriend, her best friend, and her best friend's boyfriend, all 4 of us budgeting our money carefully to rent a little place of our own...
this is planned to happen within a time frame of 1-2 years.
how do I go about doing this, what should I watch out for, and any advice would be appreciated.

    Default Re: Planning To Emancipate

In all the years I've been reading these forums, nobody has ever produced any shred of legal authority for emancipation in Canada, and I haven't seen any on another site save for a conventional wisdom that teens in Canada can set up independent households at age 16 without going through the court. There is probably a common law basis for emancipation in Canada, but as I cannot find any details I suggest you consult a domestic relations lawyer in your Province.
