I filed chapter 13 myself using a service which helped me fill out and file the paperwork. I went to the trustee meeting and the trustee kept saying we needed to have an attorney. I then received a letter from one of the attorneys on her list (with an asterisk) stating that he saw several discrepancies with my chapter 13 plan that he could resolve if I hired him. I did. The only change in my plan was to extend it to a 5 year plan to cover paying him 2,500.00 up front. What can I do about this? The bankruptcy is discharged but when I asked about student loans he required an additional 2,000 to look into the matter. I had to take the case law information regarding dischargeability for hardship and the Brunner test to him. I obviously did not pay any additional but am still bothered by the original case. Do I have any recourse?
