Hi,
I am totally new to this and need suggestions. I am a California resident (US citizen) and my fiance is a Mexican citizen, resident of the state of Mexico. I am in the process of a divorce from my ex-husband (we have been separated years but filed much later for financial reasons) and this should be final in February.
Due to the strict immigration law, what is the best thing to do? We are thinking of getting married in Mexico the the Spring and then filing for the K-3 Visa for him. In the meantime, should he just get a border crossing card? We want him to be able to visit freely while waiting for the visa process after marriage. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the border crossing card to be issued?
I will be in Mexico later this month and we plan on going to the Consulate to file any forms, etc but are not sure what to ask for. Any suggestions? What is the best thing to do?
