Question Do Common Law Marriages Require A Divorce?

i lived with my common law "husband" in south carolina for 3+ years.
Recently I have moved home to Connecticut without him.
i'm wondering what, if any, actions i should take at this point...
this may sound stupid, but is there anything such as a common law divorce?
any and all help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

You have to divorce. How long have you lived in Connecticut, is it now your permanent residence, and do you have property that needs to be divided in South Carolina? (I'm assuming no custody issues.)

You can (eventually) file in Connecticut, but it looks like there's a one year residency requirement before you are eligible to file. If he objects to division of the marital assets by the Connecticut court, that court wouldn't be able to resolve those issues, but from what you say it doesn't matter.
