    Default Walmart Grand Larceny

Hi, I was arrested for grand larceny at a Walmart in Florida. The value of what I took was around $500. The police showed up and reports were filled out for about 20 minutes then they asked me where my vehicle was. I showed them and went ahead and told them there was some more items in my truck that I had just picked up from another Walmart valued around $400, I was being cooperative because they were very polite to me and I knew it would only be useless and time consuming to not be honest to a certain degree. I was fingerprinted and let go without any documents at all. Also no more paperwork was done after they found the other merchandise. The police basically laughed and just gave it to the security guy there. This incident was nearly 5 months ago and I have since moved from Florida. I knew any court summons would be mailed to my former address so I proceded to call often to find out my status and update my address, I dont want a warrent. The problem is noone has ever been able to find any record of my arrest or anything involving me at all. I am possitive Im calling the right people and im not a minor. I dont know what to do. I would love for it to have dissapeared but want to cover myself. Any info would be appreciated.

Also on a related note I promptly recieved my civil penanty letter from the walmart collector lawyers, which I pretty much know what the deal is, except they want $475 and my only question is is do I have any negotiating power at all or should I just give in and pay the full amount?

You can try to negotiate. I can't promise you success, but we've had reports here of significant reductions.

As for why you haven't been charged yet (or if you're checking in the wrong place), I can't tell you. I have no way of knowing, and no way of finding out.
