    Default Minnesota Emancipation

I am 17 and I am going to turn 18 in ~6 months.

My parents have stated that they will not feel obligated to take care of me when I'm 18, so I will have to move out.

What sort of things do I need to do so I don't need my parents?

I have a few jobs atm. I will for sure keep one of them but the other I might not be able to since it would require too much travel from where I would be staying.
Anyway stuff like getting my own car insurance, separating my bank accounts...

I have a few places that I will be able to live at.

What I'm mainly worried about is making sure I know what I'm supposed to be doing for taxes and some of that other important stuff that I know nothing of.

are there any websites that have info, or anything that some of you suggest?

(I don't have access to a pc right now so posting on a Sidekick means my punctuation and other stuff sucks)

You need to have a place to live. You need to have any utilities, including telephone, heat, electricity, gas (if applicable) etc. turned on and/or transferred into your name. You need to find medical insurance. You need to identify a means of transportation to get you to work, and if that means is a car, you need to have insurance on it. (It does not have to be a car; a bus or subway will do.) At the end of the year you need to file Federal taxes and state taxes if applicable (I do not believe that MN is one of the few states without state taxes). You have until April 15 to do this and your employer(s) have until the end of January to send you your tax statements (W-2s). At your age and at your anticipated income level a form 1040EZ, which is more or less self-explanatory, will probably do fine.

Do you plan to attempt college?

    Short answer: no

As if this pertains to anything:
Already took quite a few credits and I do not plan to go back because I would have to pay for attending and being in debt seems stupid until I am fully sure everything is okay.

    //edit
And I'm sure my parents will be fine helping me with anything I just don't want to have much contact with them for doing stuff I can do on my own, and I want to be informed of what I have to do.

My dad attempted to scare me by saying 'out on your own you can't get a phone plan since you do not have a credit card and I mentioned prepay phones and since then he removed me off their family plan and I now pay for my own phone... (really sucked since I liked my phone number *booho* w/e)
Its stuff like that that makes me want to get away from them. They make it seem like I will be nothing or w/e zzz

Minnesota has no emancipation statute, but there is case law suggesting that a minor may emancipate through lawful marriage or through parental consent.

In this case he's talking about leaving after turning 18. Emancipation would not be required.
