Default Should I File Chapter 7?

I am wondering if I should file for Chapter7.

I have a 999,000 judgement against me from an intellectual rights violation lawsuite (I sold copied software on E-Bay with no copy rights)

I am in the process of getting a large settlement in the next 2-3 years from an insurance claim and my parents have me in their wills and own property and money and such

MY wife has bad credit as well and in interested in filing.

We own 3 cars and a deed to a campsite share.

    Is Chpt.7 a good idea?

Most of our bills are medical and bad checks.

    Thank You

It isn't immediately clear that your judgment would be dischargeable in bankruptcy, as it arises from intentional misconduct. You should consult a bankruptcy lawyer about the specifics of the judgment, and the relative merits of Chapter 13.
