    Default Roommate dispute

I'm on a lease with one other roommate, three weeks into it, and he has recently become quite ... twitchy. Can a person legally lock his bedroom door if the room also contains common elements (furnace, etc) or must he provide a key to the other tenant? Or can I just offer to provide access in case of an emergency? I have a lot of dj equipment and other personal items I do not want him to have access to in my bedroom, but he is insisting that I provide him a key. He has become very agitated about this and is sending weird text messages to my cell every day, refuses to speak to me civilly and the situation is getting ugly. Any advice would be appreciated.
