Default Statute of Limitations and 'Activity On Account'

I keep reading how paying on a debt will re-start the 7 year clock all over.

I am a bit confused at this. I understand the debt is always valid if owed and they can always try to collect on it but does that start the clock over as far as the debt being reported on my credit report(s)? Does making any type of payment cause it to continue to be reported on my credit for another 7 years?
    Thanks for any help!

Default Re: Statute of Limitations and 'Activity On Account'

For the statute of limitations, laws are different in each state. In most states, any payment toward the debt renews the obligation, and the statute of limitations starts all over again.

The creditor may update the account information to the credit bureaus.
