Possession of Marijuana

Recently I was driving into my dorm parking lot later at night, about 10 or so and I rolled through a stop sign and sure enough 2 seconds later i hear a cops sirens and I immediately pull over. Me and my friends had smoked weed in the car earlier so it smelled like pot. The cop rolls up and asks for my info and I give it to him. He says he smells a strong odor of marijuana, and I try to play dumb but he obviously knows what it smells like. So he asks if i have anything in the car he should know about and I think about it for awhile knowing that he will search my car anyways with probable cause I tell him i have pot in my compartment. He lays a ticket on me for stop violation and possession of marijuana.

I live in Lawrence, Kansas, which is douglas county. This is my first drug offense but i had a speeding ticket awhile ago that was amended. No other criminal history or nothing.

Any information on what I should do would be a great help. Thanks.
