Default Employee Caught Shoplifting at Sears

I was recently terminated from sears on the grounds of taking merchendise. The total they gave me was $254.00. I am to pay the store back and i will be recieving a court date in the mail. I'm not proud of it and i'm not going to make excuses, i would really like to get an idea at what i'm looking at so if anyone could give me some information as to what i should do next i would greatly appreciate it. This is my first offence. I appreciate any response. Thank you.

Have you ever gone to court for a speeding ticket? It should be similar.
If you don't have an attorney because you don't have an income, they will give you a public defender and schedule you to a second court date.
If you have NO record and this is your first time, don't worry about it. If you are planning on paying Sears back, you should try to do it before the court date and make sure you get a receipt from Sears.
If you goto court, and say you made a mistake, you got fired, and you paid them back, and you will not do it again!!!! Nothing should happen, it shouldn't even come up on your record. They would just say be GOOD for 6 months and it will go away.

You need to consult with a criminal defense Attorney. Many will grant free office visits. then you can arm yourself with knowledge like possible diversion

Panther, I would think that ALL criminal defense Attorneys would hate you for promising everyone free visits. I know none in my area would give "free office visits" to a shoplifter even if the are the person own public defender.

Do you really think someone on here takes your advise, calls some where and gets a "Free Office Visit" ???
