Default Trying To Get Out By Age 18

Okay so i just turned 17 two days ago. i live in a bad environment and for 3 years i have just bit my tongue because i was convinced that i could move out at 17 without parental consent. So when i turned 17 i moved out of my home with another family whom ive know for some time and knows my situation, and offered me their home and financial support. My legal guardians (who are my grandparents) called the police.. that night that i left i told them where i going so i didnt qualify as a runaway.. the next day when i had to go back to school. my grandparents were there with the sherif. the sherif told me that he wasnt going to force me home and left. my grandparents refused to leave and said that they have legal custody over me and that i was to be released to to them. my superintendet called his laywer for advice and was told that they can be sued if they dont release me to them because they are the "parents". legally i can runaway everyday but when i go back to school i can be released to them and im afraid to do so because they have the ability to change my schools. im #1 in my class and i want the valdictiorian scholarship... So if i wait another year, can i move out of my home?? even if im still in school?? please reply

When you're 18, you will be a legal adult and can live where you wish.
