IN CALIFORNIA:
Im a registered process server (later becomes funny) in my county! I paid fees and became certified. I was issued a TEMPORARY ID CARD that expired in JUNE 07.
Because I didnt choose to continue the work of a process server I did not renew my license after June. I recived a letter from the county saying I must give the temporary card back.
I sent them a letter--- "sorry i dont have the card anymore threw it away"
The Marshals came to my door to "serve" me a paper. The paper they served me was the same paper I got in the mail (just one piece of paper) NO court dates or anything, just a request to return the card to the county.
Last week I was arrested for contempt of court. apparently the marshalls office was suposed to serve me that paper along with a OSC and a court date. obviously i missed the court date and was arrested and stayed a night in jail... I was OR'ed.
Today I went to the marshalls office and the particular officer admited to me he only served me that one paper, he thought it had a court date on it but in fact it does not.
CAN I SUE SOMEBODY????
