    Default MIP in Michigan

A friend of mine received an mip while walkin to her car but people were also leaving the party and one guy had alcohol with him and she didn't know.Regardless, she blew a number .15 and she is 17 years old. It's her first offense, and she is a 4.1 gpa student and does community service and is a good person, and she is soo upset right now cuz she has never done nething like this before. She has a court appointed lawyer, and she is doing random drug and alcohol testing before she even had her trial. She has to call everyday, and it actually interfered with school today. What should she do? Could lawyers lessen her consequences? Is her record going to clear when she is 18?

    Default Re: MIP in Michigan

She's seventeen, so if she gets convicted of a criminal offense it will be in a regular court (not a juvenile court) and she will get an adult criminal record. She can discuss with her lawyer whether she may be able to avoid a criminal conviction - there are some ways to achieve that, but the options are best evaluated by a lawyer who knows the facts of the case and the county's policies.
