Hi,

visiting California for three months while being an exchange student. I was arrested recently for "public intoxication" and I thereafter found a attourney. My attourney went to court, and the DA agreed to dismiss my case if I attend 10 AA meetings. My questions are following:

- Why does the DA want me to attend AA meetings? I am going home again in 4 weeks.
- What happens at those AA meetings? I would really feel stupid if I have to say that I am "alcoholic", when I normally drink a few beers every year.
- Does these meetings cost anything?

Although I am glad that I get the case dismissed I feel that there are something wrong with the American Law when I have to attend AA meetings and normally never drinks. I wasn't drunk when I was arrested. The cop was just not aware of that I was foreign, so my English was a bit unclear and he thought I was drunk...
