Hello,
I'm so glad I found this site. I recently was put on probation for a DUI violation. I was able to get a SIS in Missouri and a 2 year probation. If I successsfully complete my 2 year probation, nothing will go on my record. Unfortunately I lost the administrative hearing, so my license is still revoked for 1 year due to a prior suspension within 5 years. The probation is 40hrs community service to be completed within 60 days, no alcohol, and no going to bars. I also have to meet with the probation officer once a month.

Below is a problem:
-The DUI happened about 2hrs away from where I live. Unfortunatley the judge in that area wanted to use his court probation officers instead of a third party company, so I have to drive up north about an hour away. It will be extremely hard to find a ride once a month. At least the PO officer said she will try to schedule evenings so it won't interfere with my full time job and she sounded like if I can't make a visit, she will work with my as long as we meet once a month.

Here are some of my concerns:
-How is the "no alcohol" monitored? What can I expect? Does this mean if I have a few beers on a Friday, they will somehow be able to tell? What is the likelihood of them coming to visit my home?

-How will they be able to tell if I've been to a bar?

-Will they be calling me nonstop throughout the day?

Now, I'm not trying to say I'm an alcoholic, but I do like to have a couple of beers on a Friday or Saturday... normally not both.

-She acted like all I have to do is meet with her once a month. Are there other things I will need to do like call her or someone else once a day or more?

-What if I need to move? I wouldn't be going far, but I might be moving to a different city within the same state. Will they allow me to move?

Alot of people I have talked to said this will be hell. I was thinking my SIS probation was a blessing because I was looking at no less than a weekend in jail and having to have an ignition interlock installed on my car.

Basically, I just want to know how much this is going to suck. Perhaps it won't be that bad. Absolutely no alcohol would be tough especially since I have so many friends that drink from time to time, but I suppose it could be done.

Anyway, if anyone can shed some light on my questions, give me words of encouragement, or just give me some pointers, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Bostonrake
