    Default Fathers Right in Naming

We live in Texas. My son and his girlfriend just had a baby. He signed the birthcertificate. She put her last name on it. Does he have any legal rights as to the last name of the baby? Or is this something that has to be decided between them.

If both parents completed the application for the birth certificate and indicated the child's surname on that applciation, they have already decided the issue of the surname between themselves.
