Before getting an attorney, I wanted to throw this out here to see what my odds of winning a lawsuit against a landlord would be.
I have a camper in a campground at a lake in North Carolina. The owner sold the property to a developer in August, but finalization of the papers have not been signed yet, and won't be until around February 2008. Because of the way the current owner of the campground handled the situation of the sale and not contacting the lessees of the campground in anyway to tell them they will have to move off by April 2008 when their leases were over, I went on a public forum and stated my opinion of what I thought of the man. Stating I thought he was unprofessional, uncourteous, and another camper came on stating that he was also a liar.
Since he found out about this, he called us up and is evicting us from the campground.
Is this not a violation of my first amendment rights, and can he evict me on such grounds?
Also, just to help my case, the owner called another member of the campground, a friend of ours, to let him know what was going on and why he evicted us, which was because of what we stated on the public opinion forum. The friend of ours is a police officer.
