Default Nolle Prosequi and Applying to Grad School

    Hello,

I am a permanent resident of USA, 4 years ago i got 2 misdemeanors and the outcome of them were nolle prosequi. I do believe that as a result of this outcome i was not convicted, therfore i don't have a criminal record. However i'm still really concerned about problems arising when i apply to Grad schools. I'd be really grateful if anyone knows if i will have difficulties getting into Grad school if the school decides to do a criminal background check on me?

    Kind regards,

Default Misdemeanors and Applying to Grad Schools

    Hello,

I am a permanent resident of the US, 4 years ago i got 2 misdemeanors. The dispositions for these were nolle prosequi. Since then i've found out that means i don't have a criminal record but the arrests still remain, so if anyone does a criminal background check then that means it'll still come up. I am applying to Grads schools right now and i have checked the box on the application form that i was not convicted of a crime...however now i'm concerned that the university may do a criminal background check on me and i may be dicriminated against, in comparison to a candidate who has no arrests.

Can anyone please tell me whether thay have any experince of having gotten arrested, no convictions made and they were still able to get into Grad school?

    Kind regards,

I know people with convictions who have completed grad school.

What will a specific grad school do? What is the relevance of an arrest to any specific curriculum, of the thousands of possible grad programs one might attend? Ask the school.
