False Accusation of Sexual Affairs

okay this is horrible!!!
I was working at a treatment centre for over a year and i had left over 2 months ago. On friday the CEO and a manager took a coworker (good friend of mine) into the "head" office and yelled at her for over 30 minutes on my behalf. They told her that they had good authority to believe that "I am INVOLVED with three alumini males (sexually) and i am now stalking all three of them" there were other comments and accusations. my friend said nothing other then "this is malicious slander" and kathrynisnt here to defend herself. Can i sue them for defamation? that statement above is not true in the very least. they told her if she told me she would be fired. she gave notice the next day because the whole situation could have been avoided. Why they would take her in the office and harass her is beyond me. They could have called me and told me they needed to talk to me about it.

If the statements aren't true, it is hard to imagine how they could not be defamatory. At the same time, you have to consider what your damages would be if you bring an action for defamation. You may want to discuss the possibility of a suit with a local lawyer who handles defamation actions.
