At seventeen in Florida, I expect he was charged as an adult. He can look at the documents he received from the court to determine if he is being summoned to juvenile court or adult court. He's also not going to get into the military with an outstanding warrant.

Would a guy who (gets drunk or stoned and) breaks into cars with his bare hands, leaving bloody fingerprints all over the car, be the sort who should represent himself, or is he the type who should get a lawyer.... If you really need that answered, he should get a lawyer.
