Default Boyfriend Stole My Jewelry, in California

Well.. got taken.. literally. My boyfriend of 2 years stole my jewelry and pawned it at local pawn shops between here and about 30+ miles away. I asked him where the jewelry went as it was missing from 3 separate jewelry boxes that are hidden. He acted nervous and said don't file a police report yet. THAT made me even more suspicious. The jewelry belongs to my mother. I am not sure whether it is him or her that stole it. She is a known thief and has had access to my home. They of course are a couple as of this evening leaving me with all the baggage so to speak. I know I need to file a police report as does my Mother. I already spotted a few pieces in one shop here in our small town, and they set them aside for me. What recourse do I have? Can he/she be arrested for taking my belongings without my knowledge or consent?? this is in California. Please advise asap as I am headed to the courthouse this am to gain a restraining order against both of them.
    thanks!

If your jewelry was stolen, file a police report and tell them where the items you found are up for sale. What are you waiting for? You want the stolen jewelry to be sold such that you can never get it back?

well.. was waiting to see if he would fess up or if it was my ex-best friend who took the items. it is 6:40 am here.. I am going to file the police report and then off to the courthouse for a restraining order. One of the rings stolen belonged to my Mother. She had asked if I could bring it back to her, and when I went to look for it, it was mia out of it's red leather box. so she too is filing a police report. If they find these items all over town and my ex was the one who pawned them off?? What is he looking at as far as jail time? arrest??or felony? misdemeanor? thanks again.. the police officers didn't seem to care less after waiting more than 2 hours for a 911 call placed by myself and my Father because psycho ex was on a hunt to get me. I just showered a little while ago and noticed I have the bruises on my right forearm where he grabbed me and threw me aside to the ground. The PO asked why I didn't mention that to the dispatcher..welll.. let's see.. I WAS BEING CHASED BY SAID PSYCHO and wanted RPD to respond!!!!2 hours later!!!!! and frankly was concerned that the ex was in the house and could take everything in it and possibly 2 out of 3 of the kids..
