    Default Revoking a Visa

A friend of mine in his final stages of PhD left for Pakistan. His entry visa had been expired and hence he applied for a new one. The security clearance took more than 9 months but he finally got visa and arrived here. The same month he arrived, he also received his approval for Canada Immigration. So he thought he should visit Canada before starting his classes again.

However, when returning from Canada, his visa was revoked and he was denied entry to the States. I have no contact with him since then.

I was wondering on what grounds his visa could have been revoked. He had security clearance, valid entry visa and he was a regular student. Any ideas? Thanks.

What did they tell him when he tried to enter? What, if anything, was stamped or written in his passport?

He had an F1 visa renewed.

What did they tell him when he tried to enter?

I don't know what did they tell him. I have no contact with him since then.

Here are some other details about his case.

    1. He travelled to Canada the same month he arrived in the States.

    2. His travel to Canada was before his University semester started here in the University.

So he came and before his semester was started, he left for the Canada, stayed there for a week and was denied entry on his return.

Is it because he left before his semester started?

Next time you are in touch with him ask him the questions I previously posed, then get back to us.

    Okay. Thanks.

By the way, my question was not specific to his case. I was wondering what makes a valid F1 visa to be revoked. As an F1 myself, this concerns me.

Nobody is going to write you out a list of the million or so things you could do which might result in the loss of your visa.

Oh. There are so many. I apologize for my ignorance.

    Thanks.
