Default The Plaintiff in a Civil Matter Has Passed

What are the options when a plaintiff has passed? Does a rep. need to be appointed by the court and will it be a Gaurdian at Litem or will the Probate court need to assign someone? Either way, I take it a death certificate and proof of appoitment will be needed to submit to the court. Will a motion need to be filed? Can the case go forward?

What type of cause of action is involved? In what state?
