    Default How to Avoid Charges

    NYS
My friend and myself are customers of one store for over 2 years. We bought merchandize for over 10 thousand dollars. One day we put underwear in our bags (in plain view - mentioned in the report) and went to the bathroom to try it on ( we had 2 baskets of merchandize left by the bathroom, over $1000 in cash + credit cards). We knew it was against the store's policy, but thought it was not a big deal. The security stopped us, asked if we had anything in the bags; we told him we had underwear that we didn't want to try on front of other people . He detained us and called the police. He refused to call the manager or to pull our customer's history that shows that we always pay for everything - even the smallest items, $2.00 worth. Now we have to go to court. What do we say? No prior arrests.

You need to contact a criminal defense Attorney and discuss your options.

You cant avoid charges you were already charged! If you cannot afford an Attorney request a public defender.

so you spend over 10K in one store over a 2 year period and you say you can not afford a lawyer? sounds funny to me. Also I am sure you both know what size of underwear you wear if you are shopping this much and often. The whole story sounds funny to me. I say these things because if you tell the judge this story he/she is going to smell these funny details as well. Good luck hope it works out for yeah.
