Default Terminated for being in Recovery

I first want to say thank you Aaron for taking the time to respond to all of these postings. I had posted a while ago on the slander topic, and since then have let the matter drop since I got a new job that I am very happy with. Now is where the problom comes in. I started working at a place a few months ago, and have enjoyed it there. Very shortly after starting there, I started into a Recovery program because of drugs. I asked my boss for Monday evenings off because I had a meeting to go to. She asked what for, and I said "To be honest it is a CMA meeting which stands for Crystal Meth Anonomous. I am in recovery from drugs." She asked me if I had been using while working at the job, and I said no. Since then she has written me up for several petty things, and has "grounded" me to my department (i work in retail) saying that I must stay in my own area. Also saying that I socialize to much with other employees. I said alright, signed the Warning Notice, and finished my shift. Today I went to work, and was promptly taken into the office by the Assistant Store Manager. He said, "I recieved a call last night that was left on my answering machine that I am supposed to terminate you". I asked why, and he went on saying that someone from another department told another employee who told another employee who told my manager who told the Store Manager that I was in another department visiting, refused to go back to my department, and was telling customers that I was busy and they had to wait to be helped. OH MY GOSH!!!! First of all, the only person I know in that department wasn't even working that day. Second, he didn't even know what had really happened. He was reading a post it note that was left for him, and was going by one of those 'one person told another person who told another person who told another person' kind of things. Here is my problom with the whole situation. I feel that since I came out with being in recovery (i do not brag about it, but it is known by some employees that I am in recovery), that my department manager has been trying to pick things out to write me up about, and finally firing me. The place I work is a very large company with alot of respect. I know that only a few of the employees drink, and none of them do drugs. I feel that since I used to do drugs, that they feel I may give their store a bad name. I'm not sure how to deal with this. Do I have a discrimination suit?

    Default Discrimination Suit

To bring a discrimination suit, you have the burden of proving yourself the victim of unlawful discrimination. It is impossible to guess whether that would be possible without a lot more information. You may wish to consult with a plaintiff-side employment lawyer in your state about your situation.
