Default The Chances of Charges For Return Fraud

For about 4 months I was committing return fraud by purchasing an item on sale at one store and returning it to another store for full price. The last time I did this the LP brought me to his office and questioned me about it. He then had the mall police question me about it. I admitted to returning items to their store even though I knew they were not purchased there. I signed a statement describing what I had done and I signed a form banning me from the store for 10 years. The police officer told me he would call me within 3 days to tell if any charges where going to be filed. This happened in the beginning of August and I have not heard anything since. Is possible he filed charges and did not tell me? How would I find out if charges were filed? How long does he have to file charges (the total amount returned equaled $3,000 and I live in NC)

Contact the court and ask or even the Officer who was present

Q: Is possible he filed charges and did not tell me?

    A: Yes.

Q: How would I find out if charges were filed?

    A: Do what panther says.

Q: How long does he have to file charges (the total amount returned equaled $3,000 and I live in NC)

A: Since this is probably a felony, they may have 1 - 5 years to file. Ask a lawyer in your state for a correct answer. Mine is just a guess.
