Really? I don't know where you are getting your information, but depending on the severity of the crime, domestic violence may be tried as a felony or misdemeanor offense (That sure sounds like a criminal offense to me) Aggravated violence, prior criminal convictions, or violence against a minor can increase the severity of the legal punishment. A criminal offense is an act punishable by law.
    Hello!

I'm getting my information from the circuit court system which issued the order. VA is a commonwealth, which may have nothing to do with the division in the court system, yet the court system within the city is broken down into General, Criminal, Traffic, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations (which is the case here)... The Family Abuse caveat was charged b/c the child was withheld from the mother, and physical harm was taken into account against the wife--hence, the restraining order that was issued... Criminal is a lot different. Criminal records are public, DV and juvenile records can only be released by going to the courts and requesting them--which the requests may be denied for adults.

Hypothetically, void of any philosophical debates about friendships--I don't want any moral or "buddy" advice here... What would you do? I believe I need to turn this friend in for his own good... He's getting worse and DOES NOT need to be around students. How do I approach this and who do I call? The school system may view that he can keep his position, but what about media exposure? The school system would then have to answer to parents on why such a person is teaching wouldn't they?

I have a lot of experience in minding my own business. Does that qualify me to share an opinion?

Seriously, this is a legal forum. If you're wrestling with moral issues or your conscience, try a philosophy forum.
