Exclamation Leaving for the Middle East Soon

Ok, wasn't sure where to post this.

Tomorrow (sorry short notice) I have a pre-trial hearing for a DUI case. I've never been in trouble before and managed to get myself in more trouble by missing my first court date. Luckily a girl I worked with also has a family owned bail bond business and took care of it without me having to leave the office.

I plead not guilty at my initial hearing because I was scared and had no idea what else to do.

Now I intend to face the music and get whats coming.. i.e. $500 fine, 2 years probation and attend a MADD panel.. all with another $500 and 90 days in jail hanging over my head if I should screw up again.

The thing is I'm booked to fly to Israel in about 9 days for work. I was there earlier this year for 3 months before I got my DUI. My planned stay is 5 months and hopefully longer after that.

I had planned to get a chemical assessment (also going to be ordered) tomorrow by an independent company (vs a cheaper but busier and crazier county one) but suddenly I decided it would be easier to ask for more time from the judge.. and just push the trial off til April when I get back.

Now I'm wondering if this bond is gonna be an issue. The girl works for me and knows its my job and I'm not a flight risk.. however Israel has little or no extradition laws (or so I'm told). What is the best course of action to get this trip underway but not be bogged down by an intense and expensive week of pleasing my probation officer.

When you are convicted of a crime, you run the risk that your sentence will interfere with your personal plans. Explain your circumstances to the court and see if they can accommodate you. Or probably better, hire a criminal defense lawyer to advocate your position.
