    Default Florida Divorce Credit Issues

My mother-in-law went through a divorce over the last year. In the divorce judgement, a $2000 credit debt was assigned to her ex to pay (he ran it up after they were separated). Now a collection agency is coming after her and the amount is up to $4000. What is her obligation on this? I have a feeling it was a joint account. What is the worse case if she just doesn't pay it. Her situation is that she is 68, still working, trying to sell her home, and currently collects both a small pension and social security.

Her obligation to the credit card company on a joint account is not affected by the divorce judgment. She can take her ex- back to court and try to compel him to pay the debt, as ordered by the divorce judgment.
