Usually a person's bankruptcy lawyer will tell the person to surrender/give the property back to the creditor to have that taken care of. If they haven't come for it yet, doesn't mean they aren't going to. It can sometimes be months before the creditor will come for the property. Of course, you can keep it in the mean time. They may never come for it but you don't know that & it is best to get the property you surrendered back to the creditor.
