Default Time Limits for Disputing Paternity After Divorce

While in the military stationed @ Ft Campbell I maried a woman I thought was having my child. Due to later conversations and circumstances I am 100% sure he is not mine.

We had a short marriage which ended with a divorce and child support order in Tx. My Ex-Wife has been using the divorce papers and support ordetr to throw her weight around for years. Now she is trying to get more support from me for a child that is not biologically mine.

I have tried to develop a relationship to with " My Son" which is another area she has made increasingly difficult. She even has him calling her new husband "Dad".

With a birth certificate from Kentucky and a divorce and child support order from Texas that is 7 years old, for a child that is 10 years old, Do I have any outlet to dispute paternity and have her out of my life and my wallet for good? If so please refer me to specific legal statutes to reference with an attorney.

Thanks to anyone that can help,
    Ian

    Default Disavowing Paternity

You probably can't unilaterally disavow paternity at this point, as there are prior court orders declaring you the father and you have waited a long time to raise the issue. (Also based upon what you have posted, for all you know, a DNA test would confirm paternity.)

Perhaps the mother would be interested in pursuing step-parent adoption if you indicated that you would consent.

You should talk to a family lawyer in the state at issue, so as to determine all your rights and remedies with certainty.
