I'm trying to help out a friend with immigration issues on a time-crunch.
She is from Jamaica. He is a US citizen in the Army currently deployed to Iraq.
They were supposed to be getting married when he got his 2 weeks R&R in May (ish), so plenty of time to apply for a fiancee visa. But, he just found out he's getting his R&R in 3 weeks time and then nothing more for the rest of the deployment (over 8 months). So, they want to get married in 3 weeks.
She has a B-1 visa. Is there an expedited processing thing for Fiancee visas? Also, since he is going straight back to Iraq, she wants to go back to Jamaica to finish up her degree (which she'll be done with by the time he gets back to the states).
Would it be better for her to come in on her B-1, get married, then go back to Jamaica and apply for a spouse visa? My concern is how she is supposed to show they are legitimately married when they're in different countries based on his military service. Any suggestions?
