I had a surgery few years ago, I did have health insurance, HMO, I went through all the process in fact, my doctors had to delay my surgery 11 days for the process/ paper work to be completed.
For some reason my health insurance did not pay for months, I ended up having to call them several times a week regarding this issue since I was getting unpaid bills from doctors and hospitals then I was turned to collection.
Then I found out that my old health insurance company went out of business, and now I am left with total of $30,000 in medical bills that my insurance was supposed to pay. I have perfect credit besides these bills, even with these bills my credit score is very good,i am very careful about paying my debts and making payments on time, but I still feel like I’ve been treated unfairly and was wondering, how long is the legal statue on medical bills before they disappear and drop from my credit history/report? I don’t have $30,000 to pay, nor I should, I did everything in order which made my health situation much worse just so I won’t be put in this situation, please help! Thank you
