I was nabbed yesterday on the way home yesterday afternoon on I-55 just south of Joliet in the construction zone by a state trooper going 72 mph. in the 55 mph. construction zone. I am guilty, and not trying to fight it, I also know the $375 min fine for speeding in the construction zone.
My question is $375 is the minimum, but is it up to the judges discretion as to what fine they may impose, or is there set guidlines for a certain number of miles over the limit equals a certain amount of money.?
I know my wallet is going to be a bit lighter, but I just want to know what to expect, am I looking at $500 or $1000, or a fine and traffic school? Anyone else gotten caught in a construction zone?
Thanks for any info regarding this issue
