Default School Attendance in the United Kingdom

Okay recently school started up over here, september 3rd.

ive had in total 12 days absence, most of which are accounted for with notes. some which arent(the latest ones)- now i got a voicemail from the school saying theyre going to take legal action based on the percentage of attendance- i dont think this is fair as we've only been back 26 days.

i was wondering if they could actually press charges based on only 26 days, to be it seems as if therye being completely unfair.(total amount of school day's between september 3rd and october 9th)

Im not sure if anyone here knows british law but this is the only place i can turn to.

for the record my mom doesnt know that ive been off these last few days.

i know from a moral perspective ive done wrong and now im just trying to figure out if those consequences are legal/legit.

thanks in advance for just reading

    yours,Raito

You've missed 12 days out of 26, in no small part due to truancy, and you are surprised that the school is taking action?

Even with a note, an absence may not be deemed excused. Beyond your truancy, why were you missing school?

Theyre claiming thats 19% - when it's actually 46% - i HAVE been legitimatly ill almost all of the days- only the last 2 my mom doesnt know about thats down to me sleeping in.

(i have a low immune system, i catch things very easily)

Sorry for not making myself more clear in the opening post.

im simply trying to save my mom a fine.

You can attempt to prove your medical condition, and attempt to prove that you were legitimately ill, in response to the truancy action. If you have not done so it's best to tell your parents now about your truancy, and about this message, as they're going to find out soon.

Yeah. I have paperwork to back up my illness. the school knows about my immune system also. i just thought it was unfair that they could punish based on such a short amount of time. not to mention claim that the attendance level was that low when in fact it was over double what they claimed.

thanks for your time, im sure you dont get a lot of people from across the pond.

EDIT: my mother knows about my absense yesterday, not today- so its only one day she doesnt know about.
