I am 16 years old and live with my Uncle/Aunt - I have been living with them for 8 weeks after running away. I am really cear I do not want to go back and live with my single mother (who has her boyfriend there/spending the night) most of the time. My father and mother have joint custody however, my mother has primary custody. My mother and I are in therapy together and I have made it real clear to hear that I want to be on my own and do not want to go back to her abusive, controlling environment. My GPA is 3.4, I have a job, I am very mature and instead of going back and living my life through her eyes, I want to move on with my life. I am ready to start community college to graduate early so I can continue on with my scholarship. My father is willing to sign what needs to be signed in order to get this through. My therapist understands why I am doing this based upon internal information that she has based upon my childhood. If my father applied for custody, he would be denied because of special circumstances.
Question: Do I have to have both signatures of my parents to get emancipated? Can only my father sign it?
If emancipation is not an option for me, because, if I were a betting person, I would bet my mother would not sign, what other options do I have in order NOT to be in her "control".
Is there something I can file personally within the Florida Court System?
Any suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated.
