My wife has been here since 91 and we have been married for 6 years.
My wife changed her license to her married name but not her social security because see can not prove lawful entry. See has lost all her documentation upon them expiring. I question how we do things here. Its my understanding that she had a three week visa to the US and was able to obtain a SS# which she believes is real so that she could get a driver's license to drive. (PS she lost the SS card too).
If you are here only for three weeks why do we issue drivers licenses?
Anyway back to us. Upon reading about waivers they state they consider the length of time in the US. Is there a magic number here, I mean she has been here for 16 years.
The other issue is that the SS# is not for work and she has worked with the understanding that I made sure she paid her taxes as if she was legal.
What are the ramifications of the DHS finding this fact out.
Its not like it was a boat load of money and she was sending it abroad.
I am under the impression based on my readings that being married to me does not help. However, she has been the pillar of my strength and the reason I get up in the morning ever since my parents died 7 years ago.
