My child is 14 years old. We moved from Oklahoma (where divorce and ex spouse live) three years ago. In that time we have heard from my child's father only a handfull of times. Not once within the last 14 months. There have been no birthday cards, calls or gifts, same with Christmas, nothing at all. Child support is garnished from his check. My child frequently tells people that he is dead. She says that is easier than saying he doesn't care. She is the one who has asked on more than one occasion to have her last name change to mine (maiden name). My question is since he has made no contact with her for over a year, when he objects to this what are the chances of this going through anyway? My daughter wants to talk to the judge as to the reasons why she wants this so deeply. Our address has not changed since we moved to Florida, and we have always had the same phone number. He on the other hand as moved to a new address (unknown address) and his phone number has been disconnected. I know he is still a cop in the same town as he was when we left. But we have no real way of contacting him. Advice?? Opinions??
Thank you deeply in advance.
Kelly
