Unhappy Employment Background Checks and a Juvenile Theft Charge

I'm getting a Background Check from Thundervally Casino for a Tribal Gaming Licence and i'm not sure if they will hire me because I had to pay a fine for a department store for stealing. I was 17 and I wasn't even the one who took anything but because I was the oldest I got into just as much trouble as everyone else..... I never went to court but they took us to a police department, it was soo long ago I don't remember all of the details. Now do I admit to this when they investagate my background? If I tell them about this they will not hire, me should I not say anything and hope for the best.?
I tryed to seal my juviniale records but it takes to long.. and they will be looking back 10 years not matter how old I was..
    Can anyone help.
PS> sorry for the bad spelling.

Do you care to tell us, then, how long ago the theft incident occurred?

Background checks vary just because yours came up with nothing does not mean a more through one (cost more) will come up with the theft.

I agree with panther that background checks vary as to thoroughness depending on the employer & the job applied for.

It is extremely unlikely that they would be able to find anything about a civil fine paid to the store, and even if the store participates in a service that reports known shoplifters it is unlikely that the casino would participate in that database. You weren't prosecuted, and it is difficult to guess from your post whether your trip to the police station was classified as an arrest by the police (it may have been classified as a detention), such that there would be an arrest record. With no prosecution, there would be no court or conviction records. It's not beyond possibility that they will detect the incident, but it seems unlikely.
