    Default Failure to Yield Accident

I have a friend in Florida who was driving and was making a right at a red light, he failed to see a pedestrian on a bicyle and just barely hit the bike. Noone was hurt, the back tire of the bicycle was damanged so my friend offered him money, they agreed on an amount and to meet the next day so he could give the man the money. Well, my friend met up with the guy to give him the money and all of sudden the man wanted more money and threatened to call the cops and give them my friends license plate number if he didnt give the amount he wanted. My question is can my friend still get into trouble after they left the seen of the accident? Noone was hurt.

It will depend upon the amount of time that passes and the policies of the police department. Some departments will decline to take reports, or will decline to issue tickets, where both people involved decided to leave the scene and chose not to file a timely report.

    Is the shake-down now over?

Well its only been a few days since the accident. The man was trying to bargain for more money, but took what my friend offered to begin with. It seems as though it may be settled, but the man has a picture of my friends license plate, so my friend is worried the man will try to report him anyway to get more out of the situation.
