Question Confused About a Shoplifting Incident

everyone makes mistakes and i made mine... i live in canada.. i was going through a situation with a abusive ex when i had a moment of idiocy.. i was with a friend she decided to shoplift... she even put something in my purse which i didnt know was there after i left the doors of the store i was on my phone and a security gaurd approached me and her and took us in his office where he asked me what was in the back slot of my purse...i had no idea it was in there! and even worse i had had my moment of idiocy in that store and i took something as well...

the security gaurd threatened to have us and our belongings searched by a female officer if we did not turn over everyhing and i turned over what i had as did she... and the security guard was suprised i had anything other then what she had put in my purse... so i pretty much gave myself up...

i was actually suppossed to start a legal studdies program this september and now i can not because of the charges laid against me i need a clear code of conduct to enter it... and i was told by someone at the legal aide office that even a discharge shows up on your criminal record check until the 1-3 year timeframe is up... so i may not be able to start for atleast that long...

this was my first offence and i had to go get printed and photographed.. but the cops filled the paper work wrong? and he called teh night beofre my court date and told us not to show up because he had to re-do the papers and get another court date... he has no called me back and it has been over two weeks since my original date... how much longer do i wait to find out my new court date? or should i contact him?

also i had a threatening letter from teh retailer demanding damages and etc. $475... i was advised not to pay it that it was a scare letter? (is that true aht retailers just send them out to everyone? because i know what i took was like several hundred times less then that..)

so this will be going on another 7 or eight weeks... and the duty officer told me i would probly have to reschedual again to get into a different court room because the provincial court room i'd be in that judge refuses to give absolute dischages and where that my only real option i'm looking at a additional 7 plus weeks... so pretty much another 15 weeks or more

this has been hanging over my head i could not apply for a promotion i had been waiting for at the call center which i have worked in or over two years now..in fear of losing my job all together and i could not go back to school...i can not even go on a trip i had planned for a good long while because i have no clue when i have to show up.. can i even like leave the povince??? because from what i was told they may send a warrent fo my arrest even if i just go to he other side of the province... :s

does anybody know anything about the minimum or maximum result from a case like this? or any posibilities at all? and is somethig like this usually resolved i under a year because this is not going anywhere and as of now i have no future...i mean i said from when the cop issued the first papers that i was pleading guilty... it's just driving me crazy that i will mostlikely have to wait over 6 months to finally plea guilty...
