Default Failure to Obey a Stop Sign

I have a question and I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this.

Anyhow, Yesterday I was pulled over for failure to obey a stop sign. I and the person in the passenger seat knew completely that it was uncalled for (there were several cops roaming a residential street pulling many people over at random) The cop was sitting at the corner of a T-intersection with his head down filling out something which i presumed to be a ticket. I was very surprised I was pulled over since I had been watching him the whole time and didn't even run the sign not to mention. I know it's my word against his, if he even shows on the court date. Although he was very nice to me and thought it was funny I couldn't find my insurance or drivers license, I felt it was an easy ticket for him on a young girl like me. Is there anything I could do, or should do? I'd also like to know how much this violation would cost.

    Thank you

The cost of the violation will depend upon what state you're in. You'll likely get a notice in the mail within a couple of weeks and it will include the price for bail. I agree that police often do seem to discriminate against young people but, oftentimes, people charged with running a stop sign are guilty of doing so even though they feel certain they stopped. If you feel strongly that you are innocent, take your friend (and a parent if you're under 18) to court and state your case.
